The dining room is one of those places. The fall mantle (yeah, I'm still gonna call it that) has a lot of natural elements (and not only because I'm
The glasses came from the thrift shop ($0.25 each, woohoo). They are filled with acorns from our trees from last year. Did you know that acorns often have little crawlie guys inside of them? I didn't and last year we ended up with little maggot look-a-likes crawling all over the living room floor. Yuck. Anyway, this year we're safe.
The hurricane was another thrift store find and is filled with clearance pot-pourri from Michael's ($1.67 for a huge bag - score). The wheat things are leftover from the autumn wreath and the books and candle were just laying in the basement, waiting for a good use.
The box and round candle were from my brother's wedding. The galvanized vase/pail is a hundred years old and is filled with
This wood crate is another of those had-it-forever pieces that was in the basement. Again I cut garden

It looks great! Don't you just love bringing up old things from the basement and have them turn out so pretty? I think I have that very same buffet! Have you ever thought about painting it? I have, but just too chicken to do it!
Oooooh!!! I like that, it's DEFINITELY Fall but it's understated too. LIKE!
Darling, those wee...er..flowers looking smashing. I believe I have that same variety, and a few others. Seriously, you created a beautiful mantel. Yes, mantel. Thanks for the thrifty ideas, and the maggot warning.
Hey, I like cheap, er I mean natural decor. :) It's the best kind! Looks good. Like you took a walk in the woods and brought home what you collected. The wood box is my favorite.
Those tiny pumpkins jumped in your basket too I see. :)
Terry,
your "mantle" looks fabulous! Love using things over and over but in a different way or spot! I had the same thing happen with some acorns I picked up from my MILs house. Someone told me you bake them in the oven to kill the little creepy crawlies but don't remember what temp or how long. I would assume a low temp for min 30 mins but not sure.

So pretty! The wooden crate with flowers :-) looks great!! Don't you just love finding things lying around that you haven't used in forever?!?
Wonderful ideas. Love the idea of re-purposing things and putting together new compositions! Really well done!
Very beautiful and creative and none of the dry stuff is going to catch on fire ;)
It's so pretty! I love decorating for fall too. Thanks so much for linking this to thrifty thursday :)
Your Fall mantel is a real delight! Love all the natural elements!
Thanks for sharing this lovely post at Potpourri Friday. I appreciate your participation!
Hi Terry, your Fall mantle is absolutely adorable. Good job. At the moment, I am visiting my son, DIL and little grandson not too far from you, in Kitchener. I recently found your blog and am now following. Please pop on over and visit my blog and perhaps you would like to follow me also. I would really love that. Hugs, Chris
