Super Easy Desk Organizer

This world of crafts is a new one to me.  Well, that’s not entirely true.  I had the rug hooking and woodburning kits that everyone else had when I was a pre-teen, but I haven’t really done much since then.

Well that is about to change.  This is a project so easy that even a newbie crafter can do it easily and quickly.  The hardest part is remembering not to recycle your containers and keep them for this project instead.  How’s that for a sell?

I started with a couple of mixed nut containers, some pretty scrapbook paper and some glue.  In this case I used mod podge simply because I have never used mod podge before and wanted to try it.  I’m sure you could use just about any glue and it would be fine.

Measure between the two metal lips of the nut container and cut a strip of paper that wide.  Flip the paper over, apply glue or mod podge and then adhere to the container.  Smooth out as you go around and that’s it.

If your paper does not go all the way around you can splice together two pieces or create a vertical stripe of complementary paper. I tried the vertical stripe two ways, over and under.  I like the look of the over better.  It looks more like it was on purpose.

And really it was just a coincidence that the paper I found had all those cupcakes and sugar and frosting pictures all over it.  Certainly doesn't mean I'm obsessed with sugar and goodies and desserts.   Just a funny, odd little coincidence.

Hi Terry, Corking (also known as French knitting) is where you have a plastic tube with four prong things on top that you wrap yarn around and then lift over each prong with this little hook. You end up with a long crocheted tail...it's hard to explain. But it was fun!
