Tomato Horn Worm

I popped into the garden today to see how the cherry tomatoes were doing.  Two days ago I noticed that they were orange and I figured today would be the day to pop one of those juicy babies into my mouth.  This is what I found:

Do you notice the difference in the plants from photo 1 to photo 2?

Photo 2
Yeah,...where did the leaves go?

I had to google the damage to figure out what might be causing it.  After some researching, it became apparent that we had tomato horn worms.  So I went back out to the garden to hunt them down.

Isn't it amazing how close in colour to the tomato stems they are?  They don't move very quickly either so it was really hard to find them.

I won't include any of the 'after' photos.  They were disturbing.  I guess I'm like a momma bear with her cubs when it comes to those tomato plants so I hope you'll forgive me.

That is one ugly looking worm. Too bad about your tomatoes... is it too late to save the plants?

OH NO!!! Those nasty little critters! I've got worms on some of my flowers now too and I'd like to wring their little necks.

Thank you very much for not showing 'after' photos. It gave me the heebie jeebies just thinking about it. :o[

what a sad day for you! :(
I tried growing tomatoes once and they got destroyed by all sorts of nasty critters. Now I stick to herbs.
Good luck with yours.
