Wheel of Life - Date Night Tips

Whether you have kids or not, a date night is a great way to bolster your relationship with your spouse.  If you are able to somehow find the time to go out, the dreaded budget can often put a damper on the fun.  Here are a handful of frugal date night ideas to get you started:

Music in the park.  Many cities have free evening concerts (check your town's website) where you can bring a picnic basket full of goodies, stretch out on the lawn, and pretend you're the only two people in the place.  (well, don't get too carried away, k?)

Botanical Gardens.  Walking hand in hand through the flowers of your city's gardens or the picturesque grounds of a nearby college/university can be so beautiful.  Bring your camera and take turns snapping fun shots of each other (then you can blog about it later - bonus).

Dessert.  Enjoy your favourite restaurant for a fraction of the cost while savouring the creme brûlée and coffee.

Wine tasting.  Or beer if you prefer.  Share a tour of your favourite winery and finish it up with a few samples, usually on the house.  Maybe splurge for a bottle to bring home as a souvenir (a tasty souvenir).

Bicycle.  Bicycle.  I want to ride my bicycle.  I want to ride my bike (anybody else now singing the song by Queen?).  Take a tour of your town on two wheels or head out into the country to enjoy the scenery and each other's company.  The exercise is just a bonus.

We have a "mini" date night ritual where we grab a dessert and catch up from the days events on the front porch for 10 min. after the little one goes to bed. Short, sweet, and a good way for us to connect after a crazy day!

That creme brulee looks divine....... yummy! {wiping the drool off my chin}
Okay we have date night at home. The kids go to bed a little early and I make a special dinner for JP and I. Usually some type of fish/seafood. Sometimes we watch a movie while we eat or just hang out and talk. The kids know that it is mommy daddy time and are pretty good to stay in bed.:)

You mean planting pumpkins together in the dark isn't a date??? Oh if only I could get my husband on a bike! Seriously, we always say we're going to have a regular "date night" but we never seem to make it stick!

First of all, thank you very much for putting that song in my head. I HATE Queen. With a passion. My next door neighbor KNOWS I hate Queen, yet he feels the need to blast it in his backyard any chance he gets. Like today in fact. I was writing a post with Mr. Mercury serenading me at full volume. Lovely.
Now that I've complained about something that had NOTHING to do with your post, I shall say, PLEASE come babysit so we can have date night!
My sister and her husband go out every Friday. Did you hear me? EVERY FRIDAY. His mom is the go-to kid drop off station. We can't get a babysitter to save our lives. Boo hiss.
Wow, I'm sounding a bit bitter this evening. Maybe I should finish my wine and get into bed. :)
