I had a front door wreath dilemma. I've been without a wreath since winter (I know!!)) and I have been on the hunt for something that would inspire a nice spring wreath. Didn't happen. Then a nice summer wreath. Also didn't happen. Now it's the end of summer and I'm pushing the envelope into fall and lo and behold,....I have found some internal autumn wreath inspiration.
Woohoo. So,...I started with an empty front door, a grapevine wreath (from the thrift store for $2, another woohoo), a fall garland, some acorns from last year (with all grubs removed), and a ,....not sure what to call it,...fall piece with wheat, whirly things, and feathery things (and yes, that is the technical name for these pieces).
Whirly Pieces |
So, add all of those pieces together and you end up with a wreath worthy of the autumn front door. I tried to distribute each different piece of grapevine, corn husk or acorn so that everything was represented fairly evenly. I used the glue gun (only two finger burns) and held each piece to ensure a good bond. That was it. The bow was already made (attached to the whirly thing piece) and just needed to be glued on.
Here is the front entrance way with an annual grass (no, sorry, don't know what kind it is) and some mums.
There is something about the fall that I find so much easier and prettier than the other seasons. This wreath is the perfect example of that for me.

That is a really beautiful wreath - fantastic job! I especially like how full it is of all the fall stuff. I had to laugh at all of your very technical terms... I'm so glad you got some "internal autumnal inspiration". I love decorating for fall, too. I can't believe the mums are here already.
Oh Terry, it looks beautiful! What an great job you did!! And only 2 glue gun burns? Now that is impressive!

Your wreath is gorgeous! I really love the natural look and that you used real acorns and.... that you got the wreath for only $2! Sweet!
SO beautiful! I think Fall is my favorite time to decorate. You have so many beautiful elements in your wreath. Makes me want to go "root around" some oak trees here to see if I can find some acorns. I am following you now.
Lovely wreath! Beautiful and inspirational.
You are such a smart cookie. This wreath will take you all the way to Christmas. Brilliant. It looks great. The acorns are my favorite. Thanks for linking up to Open House Party! I was worried I would be a big failure but the turn out wasn't too bad. :o)
I love the variety of things you added to the wreath! It looks great! Thanks for the inspiration!

Wow when inspiration hit it was a hit! Your entrance looks so glam. Wreaths are not big over here and I have no idea why, apart from Christmas Time! But it looks so gorgeous and I am inspired to do one for spring over here...

Terry, I'm excited to see your great wreath and also to know that I've visited your area a few years ago. I loved Niagra-On-The-Lake!!! Great area for flowers!
Thanks,

Wow, thanks so much everyone for the kind words. Helen's Decor -- it's a small world, isn't it. Thanks everyone for stopping by and commenting.
That is a beautiful wreath! I love all the different elements & textures. I especially like that you used the stems of something bundled together (at least it looks like that's what you). I just bought some long, long stemmed wheat at Hobby Lobby & know I will be trimming those stems -- they certainly won't get tossed now! I am now a new follower (email, too) & hope you might follow back!
